Gladiator Helmets

The gladiators and their struggles were on everyone's lips from about 264 BC to the beginning of the 5th century AD. In the state crisis after the assassination of Caesar gladiator fights were publicly funded and funded, not much later, these were an imperial privilege. These were aligned in arenas such as e.g. the Roman Colosseum.

Initially, the gladiators were slaves and prisoners of war, and later freemen committed themselves as gladiators in search of fame and glory.

The equipment of the gladiators changed over time. Initially equipped only with sword, shield and helmet and greaves developed over the centuries various gladiator species, which differed significantly in their equipment.

The most important and well-known gladiator species were the Samnit, Thraex, Hoplomachus, Murmillo, Retiarius and Secutor.

In this section you will find a wide selection of gladiator helmets of different shapes and ornaments.
