This is an authentic replica of a southern German jousting helmet (German. Stechhelm) from the early 1500s. It can be attached to breast and back plate armour with prepared holes in front and flap at the rear.

The frog-mouth helmet shape evolved from the great or bucket helmet during the early 15th century. It was worn exclusively in tournaments in combination with jousting armour.

The Stechhelm is made up of a furrowed top, a frontal element shaped like a ship's bow, and a furrowed rear part. The three elements are attached with authentic ornamental brass rivets. There are side vents to facilitate hearing as well as breathing. The helmet's dome is padded with leather and canvas padding.
